Webinar Overview:
This overview of the Toxic Substances Control Act requirements for new chemical submissions will outline how the US Environmental Protection Agency’s New Chemicals Division receives information on the commercialization of new chemicals. These submissions are for chemical substances not yet in commerce and will cover what information is required about their chemical identity, physico-chemical properties, release and exposure, and use, and existing health and safety data. The presentation will describe how that information can be used to inform risk management and regulatory actions.
Speaker Biographies:
Dr. Alex Stanton is a Lead Chemist for the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Section 5 new chemical notice review and risk assessment process. She has served with Environmental Protection Agency for 7 years and specializes in nanomaterials. Additionally, Dr. Stanton develops international standards and test guidelines as a representative to the International Standards Organization Technical Committee 229 and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Working Party for Manufactured Nanomaterials.
Brianna Godwin is a program manager in the EPA New Chemical’s Division, Risk Management Branch 2. She received a bachelor’s in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of South Florida. Since then she has worked with a conservation corps in southern California, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malawi, and did compliance assurance for the domestic wastewater and air programs with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
